Thank you so much for praying!

Wednesday we visited an all-girls school in Guatemala City where Orphan Outreach is involved in making sure these children receive a good Christian education.  The school is for 3rd to 6th grade girls.  We had so much fun!

We were greeted by the girls as we came into their classrooms.  They stood by their desks and greeted us with a smile and, “Buenos dias!”

I wish you could’ve seen the way their eyes lit up when we told the girls they were about to receive brand new Bibles!  It was so heartwarming.

Today our mission group split up into 3 teams: a Bible story team, a craft team and a recreation team.  My 15 year old daughter Rebekah and I were on the recreation team.

We had a blast with the kids during rec time!

We played hot potato, jumped rope, blew bubbles and played all sorts of fun games with a colorful parachute.  We had the kids each grab a section of the parachute, then we placed some hacky sacks in the middle of the parachute.  Then…”uno, dos, tres” – liftoff!  The hacky sacks went so high that they flew out of the school courtyard and onto the roof!

After a lunch at McDonald’s, our mission team returned to Mama Carmen’s Orphanage and share more Bible stories, crafts and plenty of games.  My favorite was “monkey in the middle.”  The kids are learning to trust us so much.  I enjoyed wrestling with the boys and tickling them mercilessly!

I must have blown up 50 balloons for these sweet kids.  Many of them would come up and ask for a balloon, while holding the one I had already given them behind their backs.  Of course, I played along and acted surprised when I found out they already had one.
