Delta Airlines has increased its baggage fees for domestic travel to $23 for the first checked bag and $32 for the second, if you pay in advance.  The cost is higher at the gate.  Here are some ways to avoid these ridiculous rates:

Pack light and use a carryon.  Log on to the site www.OneBag.com for tips on how to do this without stressing.

Ship clothes ahead of time.  Most large flat rate boxes cost about $15.

Fly airlines that don't have a baggage fee, like Southwest or Jetblue.

Even cheaper, take a road trip!!!
