Leah Coombs has definitely earned the title of "Jill of all trades" here at KVNE. In addition to overseeing all of the station's community outreach and donor relations efforts, she's found the time to host a show on our sister station and teach herself accounting... which she occasionally enjoys!
Ten Questions with Leah Coombs
1. When did you join Encouragement FM?
May 1, 1993
2. What do you do now and what other job(s) have you held here?
I am currently the Director of Community Outreach and Donor Relations (with a little accounting thrown in just to keep me humble… or maybe crazy). I started as the part-time, overnight announcer; 13 months later I was hired full time to be the receptionist (that only lasted about 4 months) and then on September 1, 1994, I started as Music Director.
3. Where else have you done similar work?
Nowhere, ever.
4. Where did you go to school?
I went to LeTourneau University in Longview and received a BA in Biblical Studies.
5. Describe your family.
My family is GREAT! I have a terrific husband, Jason and a super cute, smart, delightful six year old daughter, Jenna!
6. What do you enjoy most about working here?
I mostly enjoy hearing from our listeners that we are truly making a difference in their lives.
7. Why are you working in this ministry rather than in the for-profit/secular world?
I work here because there is really nothing better than giving your all, everyday, to serve God and His people.
8. Share a funny story about working here?
Last December, Jennifer referred to KGLY’s all-Christmas format as the "Christmas free, commercial station."
9. What is your best memory/proudest accomplishment from your time here?
I don’t think I can choose just one, but I really love being able to help our community draw together in Christ.
10. What do you hope to accomplish here?
I want to learn to be as nice as Margie!
