Beauty and the Beast Bicycle Tour
More than 700 cyclists will descend up to the rolling hills to ride the beauty of the east Texas hillsides full of the smell of pine and newly blooming native plants which cover the landscape
But many of the cyclists come for one reason, their chance to slay The Beast
A hill climb outside Mount Selman that reaches 17% upwards pitch and making it one of the steepest but shortest climbs in the state
The cyclists can chose between the family route of 12 miles or all the way to the metric 100k or 63 miles but will have an elevation gain of over 3,500 feet
All of this by cyclists that come from all over the state of Texas and five other states and as far away as California for a chance to Slay The Beast. But, in the end, the Beast will remain but one objective will have been conquered. helping east Texans amend college. One of the beneficiaries of the event will be the Tyler Junior College Promise Fund offering deserving high school freshmen that reside within the TJC taxing district an opportunity to earn a two-year scholarship covering the cost of tuition and fees.
In addition, the Tyler Bicycle Club is an open group to promote cycling as a lifestyle and wishes everyone would join them on one of their weekly rides. The TBC Trails Committee has created and maintains the mountain biking/hiking trails at both Lindsay and Faulkner Parks. Recently completed, Lindsay Park now has 15 miles of trails and Faulkner Park boasts 9 miles of groomed trails. All of these were created and continue to be maintained by the Tyler Bicycle Club and the funds raised from this event. for more information visit the:
