50 Days of Grandpa Wisdom

As Mike and Lois were expecting a grandson in September, Mike counted down the days with words of “Grandpa Wisdom that he hopes to share with his grandson someday.  Here are some of his wise words!

#50 – The anticipation usually outweighs the actual event.

#49 – Be reasonable.

#48 – Spelling always counts.

#47 – You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree!

#46 – What other people think of you is none of your business.

#45 – It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you

#44 – All that truly matters in the end, is that you loved.

#43 – When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

#42 – Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

#41 – Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good!

#40 – No matter how good or bad a situation is, it will change.

#39 – Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

#38 – Over prepare, then go with the flow.

#37 – Frame every so-called disaster with these words “in five years, will this matter?”

#36 – Floss!

#35 – God loves you not because of what you did or didn’t do, but because of who He is.

#34 – When in doubt, just take the next small step.

#33 – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

#32 – Be nice to your siblings. They’re the best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.

#31 – Love has nothing to do with looks, but everything to do with time, trust, and interest.

#30 – Take lots of pictures. Someday you’ll be really glad you did.

#29 – Stop caring about other people’s opinion of you.

#28 – Always choose life!

#27 – Forgive everyone everything.

#26 – When in doubt, bite your tongue.

#25 – Make it a priority to invest in your spouse. Time. Energy. Resources.

#24 – Give 10%, save 10%.

#23 – If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

#22 – A smile increases your face value.

#21 – it’s not easy, but sometimes you just have to let it go.

#20 – Don’t spend tomorrow’s money today.

#19 – Succeed at home first.

#18 – When no one is watching, live as though someone is.

#17 – Pray twice as much as you fret.

#16 – Believe in miracles.

#15 – God has forgiven you. You’d be wise to do the same.

#14 – When it comes to going after what you really want in life, don’t take no for an answer.

#13 – Don’t take yourself too seriously. No one else does!

#12 – There are many good speakers, but not nearly as many good listeners. Strive to be the latter.

#11 – Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil your present.

#10 – Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger!

#9 – A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

#8 – Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy clothes. Don”t wait for a special occasion. Today is special!

#7 – You learn a lot about a person when you travel with them.

#6 – It’s okay to get angry with god. He can take it.

#5 – Most of the time what you’re looking for is right in front of you.

#4 – Be courteous. Not just to strangers and acquaintances, but to those to whom you’re closest. They’re often the ones we take for granted.

#3 – Grand-parenting really is the best!

#2 – All churches are flawed. Go to church anyway.

#1 – Pray. A lot. (Now, get started!)
