I don’t know about you, but more often than not, when I pray for something to change, I already have a plan for God to follow.

Few times can I say that He has followed my well-crafted plan. Instead, while ultimately I get what it is God wants me to have, it is rarely in the way I wanted or expected to receive it.

I can almost miss an answered prayer because I’m so intent on seeing my blueprint and God chooses to use His plan instead of mine.

So, what is my point? Here it is: When we pray for our needs and or wants from God, we need to determine whether what we want is the final outcome. Or we want what we want and how we want it because those are very different results!

Scripture says “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart!”  I think the part of this statement I struggle with is that we first have to delight ourselves in the Lord!

I believe if I stay delighted in HIM, then my heart is going to remain open to and willing to see His gifts fulfilling the true desires I should have in Christ.

I believe if I stay delighted in HIM, then my heart is going to remain open to and willing to see His gifts fulfilling the true desires I should have in Christ.

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. – Psalm 37:4-6
