My aunt, Kim Cone, has battled cancer for a very long time. She fought through Hepatitis C and then breast cancer years ago. Her immune system was never really perfect after that, but she continued life. Then she ended up going through an awful divorce with children that did not have respect for her or treat her kindly, thinking she was destroying their family and was just a hypochondriac. She lived with my grandmother and took care of her for 3 years before my Bobo passed 3 Christmases ago. During that time, Kimmy, as I call her, got pancreatic cancer. She had the major surgery for that, did chemo and radiation, and has survived that cancer-free for almost 3 years. Sadly, though, she just found out last week that she has inoperable peritoneal carcinomatosis, which in essence is cancer in the lining of stomach tissue, more or less. By the time it is detected, it has already spread and is terminal. Many patients can get chemo and it prolongs the inevitable, but it can be anywhere from 2-60 months before you pass. All that being said, she needs so many prayers. She is tired...tired of fighting cancer and illnesses, tired of her kids fighting over money, tired of staying positive, and physically tired. Please pray that she would have the courage to go back to church (she has not found one yet here in this area - she went to an Episcopal church for years in her hometown, but hasn't gotten involved here), that she can stay positive no matter what, knowing that God has her in His Mighty Hand, that she would enjoy whatever time she does have left doing things SHE enjoys (even though they've treated her horribly, her children always want her to do for them, feel they are entitled to her money now, rather than later, and get mad when she does stuff for herself), and will find a cancer support group in the area that she can lean on. I also would pray that she can find time to be with God and build her faith, knowing that He has always been with her, through all the pain and suffering, and that he is NOT punishing her. That He LOVES her deeply. I would also add to please pray for my mom and her sister, Karla, as they have to help her and eventually say goodbye to her, because they all lost another sister many years ago (that sister was killed in a car crash at age 14). They are fine now, but they have a difficult time asking for help and showing emotion. I want to help where I can and be there for my aunt as she struggles with everything. I lost my husband to cancer 8 years ago, so I know that I can help her not only spiritually, but logistically on getting her house in order. Thank you so much, prayer warriors!
