Almost a decade ago my family experienced a fire. Thankfully no one was hurt, and through it all we experienced God’s faithfulness over and over. Even still, I every so often find myself worrying that it will happen again. I know in my heart that God will care for us, yet still my mind wanders and I become overwhelmed with worry and doubt.
The only thing I know to do at times like this is to battle the lie with the truth.
In the Bible, Paul tells us “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”Philippians 4:8
Memorizing the word of God is the only way I know to turn off those thoughts in my head that are destructive. By thinking on what’s true, the lies fade away and the enemy loses his foothold.
Time memorizing scripture will never be wasted and we will be less likely to spend our time worrying, doubting or complaining when we have the truth of God stored up.READ ALL HEARD ON AIR BLOGS
