89.5 KVNE Mornings
Have you ever had an ailment or physical issue for so long that you just got used to it? When my lovely wife and life partner Lois got her eyes fixed after 45 years of wearing glasses, it changed everything! She could actually see!
My sister Linda endured years of pain in her knees. But since she had surgery, she has been able to move freely and do more things than she had in ages!
My hearing was getting worse by the year. Apparently the headphones had been up too loud for too long, and the constant bang of the drums were taking its toll. We finally sucked it up and sprung for hearing aids.
I knew it would probably help. I had no idea.
The difference is night and day! It’s almost like the deaf man in Mark 7 whose “ears were opened.” It has not only allowed me to understand conversations more clearly, but it has raised my confidence and mood! I had missed so many conversations, so I used to just smile and nod a lot. I still smile and nod, but now I really hear you!
Not everyone is blessed to have these corrective procedures, and not all surgeries are successful. But it’s a reminder to me and hopefully to us all: Be thankful for what you have!
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
