Forgiveness

It can be easy to forgive others when the act is small — when the damage is minor — when there are no deep emotional scars.

But forgiveness becomes more difficult when the act is significant — when we feel hurt to our core — when we feel betrayed. That is a different animal. These situations can divide friendships and split marriages. They can turn friends into enemies.

It is critical to learn how to forgive. But when we don’t forgive others, we suffer with overwhelming stress and hurt! If the pain is so intense, it can make us sick.

So what do we do?

Well, we have to deal with our anger, negative emotions, and depression. When we forgive, negative emotions are replaced with positive ones. Forgiveness helps pain, depression, and anger.

But it’s not so easy to forgive. Some may feel angry, vengeful, and bitter. I get it! I’ve had this feeling of betrayal and it hurts deep! But holding on to my hurt made me feel depressed and worn out!

Forgiveness is important for our relationship with God. We must not allow un-forgiveness to cripple our hears and minds. Ask God to help you forgive, and to be a forgiving person.

Forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.
