Do you ever feel like you and your spouse are so busy, you’re like passing ships?

I had some things to go over with my husband, and we’ve been so covered up lately I decided to set up a meeting time to get together. I made a list of all of the items I wanted to discuss, met him at a local coffee shop, and I ordered my favorite coffee. I knew this was going to be great… finally getting some things decided.

As I pulled out my list, my husband started going over something that was on his mind, catching up on some bills. To be honest, this wasn’t the direction I wanted the meeting to go. I started to get frustrated and he could tell. The meeting ended sooner than planned, and I hate to admit it, but I stewed about it the rest of the day.

What if instead of having a pity party and focusing on all of my concerns, I decided to focus on God?

Sometimes, I feel like I hold a magnifying glass over my problems and they get bigger and bigger. What if I moved the magnifying glass off my worries and struggles and I completely focused on God’s love, power, provision, and strength? Imagine what life would be like if God became bigger than anything else! Instead of focusing on what’s wrong with me or my life, I’d be consumed with by all that is right with Him.

I know the Bible tells me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of my faith. So, today, that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to stop thinking about me and start thinking more about HIM.

I have a feeling my outlook will be transformed and my problems will shrink in comparison.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed – that exhilarating finish in and with God – he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. – Hebrews 12:2
