As our past gets longer, it’s easy to have regrets. Some are pretty embarrassing! Remember the 70s?
It’s almost trendy to make fun of the 70s, but I say it gets a bad rap. The Brady Bunch?!? Silk shirts. Big striped bell bottom pants. Some of the music. Oh my gosh. But they were cool then!
And lifestyles. So many mistakes. Terrible choices. Often I knowingly made harmful decisions. I can’t go back, but hopefully I’ve learned some hard lessons. It’s part of my story.
With that in mind, I am sorry for the people I hurt. I didn’t listen enough. I was so into myself, and my aspirations. I let some people down. I was too often unfaithful.
If God were keeping score, I’d be losing, so woefully behind in the game. But I’m so thankful for this reminder:
“I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sins no more.” – Jeremiah 31:34
Our hair, clothes, and music of our youth may seem goofy to us now. But know that with time what you look like and listen to now will be hilarious to a future generation!
And if you have regrets today, you don’t have to wear them. God removes your sins as far as the east is from the west. They’re gone!
Just like the Bradys.
