It’s so easy to get caught up in our fast-paced lives. We often miss things that would have been so special to us. Then I saw this TV show.

Have you heard about “Slow TV”? The Norwegians popularized it in 2000s. This is how Wikipedia defines Slow TV:

“Slow television, or slow TV (NorwegianSakte-TV), is a term used for a genre of live “marathon” television coverage of an ordinary event in its complete length.”

Slow TV is slow compared only with normal broadcast timetables. It doesn’t run at the warp speed of narrative drama, but at the rate of actual experience. Slow TV is not scripted or heavily edited, and it’s more concerned with movement than with tension, contrast, or character. When I first heard about Slow TV, I was intrigued.

An NRK produce told Time Magazine that “Slow TV” is so different is very different from the way everybody — including myself to be honest — has always thought that TV should be made. TV has mostly been produced the same way everywhere with just changes in subjects and themes. This is a different way of telling a story. It is more strange. The more wrong it gets, the more right it is.”

So you’re probably thinking “why does this matter to me?”

Think about the way we live in the world today: fast-paced, hurried, trying to get 30 hours in a 24-hour day. I think I might like this “Slow TV.”

Instead of running around trying to do everything in a day, we could spend more time with the Father. I know I should. I sometimes put the Father in the backseat, thinking “I’ll spend time with Him later.” It would be nice to “be in the moment” in your life. Don’t you think? It’s something to think about for sure.

You may not enjoy “Slow TV” but it certainly sounds nice to me. I bet if I slowed down, I would enjoy life more. I would spend time with the Father, my family and friends. Yep, the more I think about slowing down, the more I want to try it. Slow down and do those things you’ve always wanted to do. Take that trip, volunteer, do mission work, and appreciate the joy our Father God has given us!

Proverbs 17:22 – A joyful heart is good medicine.

What gives your life joy?
