We love our pets, don’t we? It’s amazing the things we put up with sometimes, especially when they look at us with those adorable faces! Lately our dogs are keeping us up at night…it seems they think it’s their bed. We have a king-sized bed, yet most every night, I am hanging off about one inch of it!

Sometimes, though, it’s my worries that keep me up at night. Even when I tell myself I am not going to think about them…that almost always ensures that I will. I toss and turn and try to fall asleep. How do you try to fall asleep anyway? If you have a suggestion, let me know. Why can’t I just turn off my brain like I turn off the lights when I head to bed?

One thing that always helps is to pray. When I talk to God about what’s on my mind, even if the issue is still there, it provides relief. In fact, many times I fall asleep in the middle of prayers like that. I used to feel guilty about that, but then I realized that was just the Lord helping me to get the rest I needed.

I love what it says in the Bible in Psalm 34:

The Lord hears His people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.

So the next time you have trouble falling asleep go ahead and give this a try. I’m praying it will ease your mind and remind you that you are not alone.
