I consider myself a pretty positive person, but just like everyone else, I have good days and bad days.
Sometimes one little thing can change a regular old day into a terrible one. I can’t say I have all the answers to turning a bad day around, but one thing that works for me is knowing that I can’t do it alone.
I need God and His Word to lead me, to remind me that He is in control, and that He is all I need. To be honest, sometimes it takes some intentional wallowing before I get to that place (I just want to be mad…can you relate?).
Eventually I will be reminded to look to the Lord and His strength, and I’m thankful.
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 2 Peter 1:3
I have these words taped to my desk in my office as a reminder that yes, God is in control, but I also have a choice in how I react to the things that can potentially bring me down:
I can’t control the things that happen to me each day, but I can control how I think about them. I can say to myself, “I have a choice to have destructive thoughts or constructive thoughts right now. I can wallow in what’s wrong and make things worse, or I can ask God for a better perspective to help me see good, even when I don’t feel good.”
And when our flesh tries to tell us it’s too hard, we can remember we have God’s Word to guide us and His Holy Spirit inside of us.
Yes. We are well-equipped to face this day.
